1. Past indefinite Tense

Formula :
Subject + 2nd form of the verb + Object.
Negative : Subject + did not + 1st form of the verb + Object
Interrogative
Did + Subject + 1st form of the verb + Object?
He went to school daily. وہ روزانہ سکول جاتا تھا۔
You got admission in B.A. آپ نے بی اے میں داخلہ لے لیا
You did not go to college. تم کالج نہیں گئے تھے۔
Did you go to college? کیا آپ کالج گئے تھے؟
2. Past continuous Tense
Formula:
Subject + was or were + 1st form of the verb(with” ing” )+ Object
(He, She, It, Aslam, I )+ was
(They, You, we, Aslam and Akram)+ were
Negative :
Subject + was or were+not+ 1st form of the verb(with"ing") + Object
Interrogative
Was or were + Subject + 1st form of the verb(with “ing”)+ Object?
He was running towards home. وہ گھر کی طرف بھاگ رہا تھا۔
You were going to school daily. آپ روزانہ سکول جاتے تھے۔
She was not accepting a lie. وہ جھوٹ کو قبول نہیں کر رہی تھی۔
Were you going to the hospital? کیا آپ ہسپتال جا رہے تھے؟
Were they offering you the money? کیا وہ آپ کو رقم کی پیشکش کر رہے تھے؟
3. Past Perfect Tense
Subject + had + 3rd form of the verb + Object
Negative :
Subject + had not + 3rd form of the verb + Object
Had + Subject + 3rd form of the verb + Object?
He had gone home. وہ گھر چلا گیا تھا۔
She had not gone to college. وہ کالج نہیں گئی تھی۔
Had he gotten the book? اگر اسے کتاب مل جاتی۔
I had rung him. میں نے اسے فون کیا تھا۔
4. Past Perfect Continuous Tense
Formula :
Subject + had been + 1st form of the verb(with"ing") + Object
Negative:
Subject + had not been + 1st form of the verb(with"ing") + Object
Interrogative
Had + Subject + been + 1st form of the verb(with"ing") + Object?
He had been waiting for the result. وہ نتائج کا انتظار کر رہا تھا۔
He had not been writing about politics. وہ سیاست کے بارے میں نہیں لکھتے تھے۔
Had you been waiting for me? اگر آپ میرا انتظار کر رہے تھے۔
